Author Talk: Two Tales of Childhood
Cat Buchanan has lived in Belsize Park for over thirty years, working as a media lawyer and TV producer. Here she recalls the stormy years of her adoption in Los Angeles, and the fallout when her adopted parents divorced and waged a savage war over her custody.
Patrick Kealey is an Irish writer, whose degree in Eng Lit from Cambridge led to a career as theatre director and playwright. The childhood he describes is similarly fraught: an orphan growing up in the peatbogs of Ireland under the care of an ailing aunt.
Together, as long-standing friends, they will discuss what enables children to survive such traumas and become successful adults.
