Gig : The 5E3

The 5E3

The 5E3 are an emerging band of old souls in new musical clothes playing the jazz of the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. If you enjoy the atmospheric music of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Grant Green, Thelonius Monk, Sam Rivers, Sonny Rollins et al, then you’ll definitely get where The 5E3 are coming from. The band members have countless years of experience playing rock, r’n’b, soul, and Americana; this is now distilled into their take on a grooving jazz repertoire which has most recently featured in gigs at The Vortex, Hackney and University College, London, with further dates at the Mildmay Club, Stoke Newington and The Brewery Tap, Peterborough in the months ahead. The scorching tenor saxophone of Duncan ‘Mack’ McCoshan and intricate stylings of lead guitarist David Gloster are the featured solo instruments of The 5E3, surfing the churning rhythm section of Art Chapman [drums], Craig Douglas [bass], and Ken O’Broin [rhythm guitar]
