Join us for a deliciously unique cinematic experience with Tampopo, the cult classic from Japanese director Juzo Itami. Blending comedy, satire and an irresistible love of food, Tampopo is a one-of-a-kind film that celebrates the joy, ritual and absurdity of eating.
The story follows Tampopo, a widowed ramen shop owner played by Nobuko Miyamoto, who is determined to transform her modest noodle shop into a top-tier ramen destination. When a truck driver named Goro, played by Tsutomu Yamazaki, stops in for a meal, he decides to help Tampopo perfect her craft. Together, they embark on a quirky and heartfelt quest for the perfect bowl of ramen.
Along the way, the film weaves in a series of playful and unexpected vignettes exploring the many ways food intersects with life, love and culture. With its inventive storytelling, visual flair and appetite-inducing detail, Tampopo is both a culinary journey and a cinematic treat.
A celebration of cinema and cuisine that’s not to be missed.
